The Peace Scholarship Program are offering the opportunity for a female student in Afghanistan to study in Australia for two semesters commencing February 2009:  

 

Award

 

The Scholarship covers:

  • Tuition fees for study abroad (at either undergraduate or postgraduate level) at Flinders University commencing February 2009 for two semesters
  • An accommodation scholarship for 2 semesters at Flinders University
  • Additional funds to cover travel, accommodation and living costs provided by IDP Education Australia for two semesters
  • Two day orientation welcome program
  • Other services and products offered by supporters of the Peace Scholarship Program
  • Lifetime networking opportunities with Peace Scholarship recipients worldwide

Female students who meet all the eligibility criteria outlined below are invited to apply for the 2009 Flinders University IDP Peace Scholarship Program in Afghanistan.

 

How to Apply

 

STEP 1

 

Ensure you fulfil each of the selection criteria as detailed below:

 

Selection Criteria

  • At the time of application you have completed at least two semesters of a full-time undergraduate degree OR you have recently graduated from the University of Kabul
  • You have achieved at least an 80% average mark in your degree to date
  • You have a level of English language proficiency that satisfies both Student Visa requirements for entry to Australia as well as host institution requirements (see below)
  • You do not hold citizenship or permanent residency in Australia
  • You are able to demonstrate a commitment to ‘global peace and understanding’ through community, academic or professional achievements
  • You are able to indicate how the experience will further your professional development and help contribute to global peace and understanding
  • You are able to demonstrate a financial need and that without this scholarship you would not have the chance to study overseas
  • Only female students who are citizens of Afghanistan are eligible to apply

English language requirements:

  • IELTS: 6.0 overall, and minimum 6.0 in writing and speaking
  • Paper Based TOEFL: 550 with TWE 4.5
  • Computer Based TOEFL: 213 with essay 4.5
  • Internet Based TOEFL: 80 with 20+ in the writing section

 

STEP 2:

 

The following materials must be received by The Peace Scholarship Coordinator in Kabul, Afghanistan by August 30th 2008:  

 

  1. Completed, printed and signed application form
  2. Completed, printed and signed Agreement of Award Terms and Conditions
  3. Certified true copy of current passport or official government identification card
  4. Certified true copy of English translated official academic transcript, including current year grades and explanation of grading system
  5. Original and current certificate of either:
  • - International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test results
  • - Computer Based TOEFL
  • - Paperbased TOEFL
  • - Interent TOEFL

    6. Two References/Testimonials in English

  • One reference/testimonial from home institution (Dean or higher). This reference/testimonial must follow the format outlined on the Home Institution Reference Form and address the criteria requested
  • One reference/testimonial from someone you have worked with on a particular community service project that you talk about in your application (preferably your supervisor), or from someone who can honestly discuss your involvement in community based activities and projects and who has known you for more than 2 years. This reference/testimonial must follow the format outlined on the Community Leader Reference Form and address the criteria requested.

 

Note: References cannot be submitted froma person to whom you are related.

 

Selection Procedures

 

All applications must be received by the Peace Scholarship Coordinator in Kabul by August 30th, 2008.
