November 2008 Update
Hi, everyone!
The last two months have been absolutely
hectic. Australia is also about working hard and not only about
having fun and party.
I am more than glad to announce that I am done
with my exams and final papers. I think I did a good job. I had to
hand in some essays about international and Australian Education
and I really learnt writing them. I have also constructed a LAMS
sequence and I am proud to say that I was congratulated by the
person who administers that program internationally -by the way, if
interested, you can download it from the LAMS community web page.
It appears under the title “Día de muertos”-.
Some people from Macquarie are going to my home
university in January and I have helped them to make some
improvements in the volunteer program they have implemented. In
this context, some of my best friends back home and I translated
some gigantic documents in just ten days (Belén, Fanny and Yaz,
thank you again) using web conferences and wikis. This translation
demonstrates that we live in a global society in which there are no
distance barriers for team work. In the program preparation, I have
also participated in the first pre-departure session with a short
speech about some cultural issues that Australians have to be aware
of when visiting my city, Puebla.
Finally, I have been to the concert of one of
the best Australian rock bands: The Vines. It was so much fun and I
screamed as much as possible to take the stress away.

September 2008 Update
Hey, everybody! This month has been great. Not
only did I study hard, but I also had heaps of fun. Now, after
almost 90 days of being here, I can certainly state that I love
this city, despite the fact it’s very expensive.
I had to hand in my first assignments, for
which I had to study hard. After two weeks of intense work, I think
did it well: I hope to get good notes.
One of my essays really interested me. I was
expected to write and analyze the programs that the World Bank has
implemented to improve the level of education worldwide. In this
way, I really tried to describe how these policies have affected
our actual education system considering the globalized society we
live nowadays.
Up to now, I have had the changed to go
and see the gigantic whales, koalas, kangaroos and the Pope in
Sidney. Besides, I have also enjoyed Macquarie social life: I go
out every Thursdays, usually to a dancing club. Last Friday we
celebrated Conception day at Uni and it was absolutely hectic.
My birthday took place last September
14th and all my international friends came to my place
to have some drinks and hang out. The lovely hot weather made it
just memorable.
I have just come back from a wonderful trip to
the Gold Coast…my life is so good!
