Peace Action Group - PERTH

October 2008 Update

During the past month, we sold chocolates at our 3 different universities: Curtin, Murdoch and ECU. Ana and Melissa sold chocolates at their university and at the local church; Victoria and Alida at their school. Even though the progress of each of us was different, people’s response was amazing. People were amazed and very supportive when they heard the cause. The leader of the church of Ana and Melissa, the international office of ECU and some teachers in Murdoch helped us to promote the chocolates, enabling us to sell them faster. This experience made us realize that people is deeply interested in education and having internationals students in Australia.

September 2008 Update

The fundraising plan changed. We were planning to gather clothes or different items and then sell them in a second hand used market. The 4 of us asked for help to our student council but there was little support and it was difficult because we did not have a place to storage the items or transportation to take everything to the city and sell them. We live far from each other which is another disadvantage.

Ana wrote an e-mail to Cadbury, they sent chocolate boxes and now we are selling them. If we finish selling them on the next 2 weeks we might ask for more boxes. People have been very supportive but there are more persons selling chocolates, which make it a little bit harder.
