Andrea Romero

Andrea Romero is studying English Teaching at UMCE and teaches elementary school. Andrea hopes to learn from Australian culture in order to enrich her knowledge and teach new skills to her students. Andrea is looking forward to studying Australian literature.

 

Diana Dei Carmen Jimenez Mora

Home University – UMCE

Host University – Curtin University

Diana is a student of English Teaching as a Foreign Language and believes studying in Australia will change her point of view towards education by showing new methods of teaching. Diana is very interested in learning about Australian culture and believes the experience of studying in Australia will enable her to develop as an educator.

 

Danilo Moncada

Home University – Universidad de Playa Ancha

Host University – Central Queensland University

Danilo Moncada wants to teach students with economic and social problems. Danilo is an outstanding student and is very interested in developing his English language skills as he sees English as a way to learn more about different cultures and people. Danilo believes his country needs better teachers and aspires to become one of the best.

 

Farid Oscar Hidalgo Yumha

Home University – UMCE

Host University – Queensland University of Technology

Farid is currently studying to become an English Teacher, and is also very interested in Linguistics. Farid has always been fascinated by Australia and its geography and diverse culture and hopes to make the best of his Peace Scholarship experience.

 

Jorge Barrueto
Home University
– Universidad Catolica de la Santisima Concepcion

Host University – La Trobe University

Jorge is an English Major student at the Universidad Catolica de la Santisima Concepcion, and during his three years at university has been involved in a variety of activities. Jorge has been involved in a project called MECESUP, where he contributed to the development of multimedia resources at the university. Jorge hopes studying in Australia will provide him with a chance to exchange his culture and find out more about Australian customs and culture.

 

Jorge Luis Ulloa Valle

Home University – Universidad De Playa Ancha

Host University – Griffith University

A proactive student of English Pedagogy, Jorge Ulloa, firmly believes that people can overcome poverty and lack of opportunity through knowledge and life values. Born in a very humble family in the countryside called Chiloe, Jorge discovered that good ideas and motivation are important keys to success. In Chile, Jorge works as a volunteer in a mental hospital and studies hard to help socially disadvantaged children and teenagers through computer classes.

 

Karen Lopez

Home University – Universidad Catolica de la Santisima Concepcion

Host University – Curtin University

Karen Lopez studies English teaching and strongly believes in using her knowledge to create a better country in the future. Karen loves working with children and young people and it is one of her main aims in life to help to overcome the educational problems affecting Chilean students. A motivated young woman who is actively involved in academic and social activities, Karen strongly believes that spending a semester in Australia will give her tools to start making her dreams of a better world come true.

 

Michelle Reyes Munoz

Host University – La Trobe University

Michelle is a forth year student at UMCE. Michelle is looking forward to travelling to Australia and the opportunity to learn from her classmates in Australia. Michelle hopes to improve her English while in Australia and to use her skills to be a better English teacher when she returns to Chile.

 

Mauricio San Martin Gomez

Home University – UMCE

Host University – Central Queensland University

Mauricio is a 21 year old English Language student. Mauricio has a keen interest in English Language, music and performing arts, which complement his teaching strategies. Mauricio believes studying in Australia will give him a chance to better master the English language and learn about a different culture, which he hopes to share with his students upon his return to Chile.

 

Margarita Menares

Host University – Australian National University

Margarita hopes to improve the education system in Chile. Margarita believes the Chilean education system has great potential and that education is one of the most important keys to success. As a future teacher of English, Margarita will need a strong awareness of Chilean culture and also of English-speaking countries, and hopes to develop her English while in Australia, and learn new skills.

 

Pamela Alejandra Larrondo Ramos

Host University – Australian National University

Pamela is in her seventh semester of English Teaching in Chile and is a volunteer teacher at a high school. Pamela strongly believes studying in Australia will allow her to understand a different culture in order to give her students diverse experiences valuable to their lives.

 

Sebastian Nunez

Host University – University of Western Sydney

Sebastian is a 25 year old student who is really interested in Australian culture and its people. Sebastian has a deep interest in English Language and how to best teach it.

 

Vicente Vivas

Home University – University of Playa Ancha

Host University – Macquarie University

Vicente hopes to create new methodologies in teaching children through martial arts and technology. Vicente hopes to teach his students respect, loyalty, hard work and self confidence.

 

Valeska Maldonado

Host University – Queensland University of Technology

Valeska is grateful for the opportunity to broaden her horizons and to interact with students from different cultures and backgrounds. Valeska wants to learn more about Australia and to share this knowledge with her students.
